Platipus’ range of mechanical earth anchors provide immediate stability benefits to embankments and walls showing signs of movement, or to proposed cut slopes and attenuation systems. Our mechanical anchors are percussively driven into soil and heavily weathered rock using either hand-held hydraulic equipment or a digger/excavator. Once beyond the expected failure plane of the soil, the anchor is pulled back slightly to rotate and engage the anchor head, applying an active load against the face of the structure. If necessary, any number of soft- or hard-facing system can be used to spread the applied load across the face of the structure. Platipus mechanical anchors have been used for over 40 years to aid in remediation of historic retaining walls, enable rapid cutting of temporary and permanent slopes, reduce landslide risk, and hold down submerged tanks and pond liners in high groundwater environments. The system is available in a range of materials, and can be tailored to suit the design life of the project regardless of soil aggressivity or existing Site contaminants.
