Plati-Drain

Plati-Drain™ is a deep, percussively installed drain that relieves pore water and hydrostatic pressure in slopes and behind retaining walls, improving stability.

Product Benefits

Targets trapped water at depth, beyond the reach of conventional weep holes and shallow drains
Reduces hydrostatic pressure behind retaining walls, cutting the risk of instability and rework
Helps prevent shallow and deep-seated slope failures by lowering pore water pressure in clays
Minimises disruption by avoiding trenching and mass excavation on constrained operational sites
Rapid percussive installation using simple, readily available site equipment

Product Details

Plati-Drain™ is a patented drainage solution engineered to reduce pore water pressure in saturated clay slopes and hydrostatic pressure behind retaining structures. After heavy rainfall, trapped water can soften clay soils, reduce shear strength and increase the forces that drive instability. Plati-Drain targets water at its source by penetrating up to 10 metres and forming an immediate drainage channel from depth, not just at the surface like traditional weep holes. It installs from the surface without mass excavation, avoiding the cost, time and disruption of trenching, which makes it well suited to retro-fit works and restricted sites. The drain uses a bonded polyethylene/polypropylene body with a 100 mm wide corrugated core and an outer sock that limits fine particle ingress to help maintain hydraulic performance. Installed percussively using simple tools, Plati-Drain supports highways, rail embankments, cuttings, retaining walls and earthworks.
