Product Details

Minova’s Expansion Shell Bolt range provides immediate point‑anchored ground control for mining operations that need fast, dependable support without resin or grout. Designed for roof and rib support, the system is tensioned on installation, setting the expansion shell firmly against the borehole wall to provide immediate and effective ground support. Our KR‑1 and KR‑2 assemblies pair M18 threaded rods (Ø18.3 mm AP 600 steel) with Ø25 mm shells to suit a 25.4 mm borehole, delivering at least 100 kN capacity and a working load of 130 kN. Plates and washer options (square, round, octagonal, and side‑hole) support diverse site needs; installation targets a minimum 30 kN prestress at ≥ 250 Nm torque. Certified by the INOVA Technical Innovation Centre (No. 68/4/2017). For higher useful load applications, KE‑3W and KE3‑2K use Ø36 mm shells with M20 thread options and useful load up to 170 kN, combining rapid bolting with multiple head and plate configurations and optional corrosion protection for extended service life. Together, these mechanical solutions help you accelerate cycles, improve roadway availability, and maintain safe, productive workings with proven Minova quality.

Product Features

Expansion Shell Bolt for fast, immediate mine roof support

Immediate point anchorage and rapid bolt set-up

Mechanical shells expand and lock against the borehole wall on torque, giving instant support without resin or grout and enabling fast re‑entry to the heading

Small 25.4 mm borehole, M18 or M20 thread options

KR types use Ø25 mm shells for 25.4 mm holes with M18 rods; KE types use Ø36 mm shells with M20 options to suit project needs

High working load: up to 170 kN depending on types

KR useful load is 130 kN; KE systems offer useful load up to 170 kN, supporting heavier plates and ground conditions

AP 600 steel rods Ø18.3 mm for durable performance

Rods are manufactured from plain AP 600 steel (Ø18.3 mm) with rolled thread for dependable tensioning and fatigue resistance

Single or twin shell heads for wide ground contact

KR‑1 uses one shell/one expander; KR‑2 uses two shells/two expanders for enhanced contact in variable strata
