CarboThix

CarboThix represents a range of two‑component silicate resins developed primarily for installation of rock-bolts and cable rock-bolts, thickening instantly, curing fast and delivering high anchoring performance. Due to its strength parameters, CarboThix has also an excellent consolidation effect.

Product Benefits

Instant response of installed rock-bolts increases safety
High bolting capacity allows maximum use of rock-bolts parameters
Constant 1:1 mixing enhances quality control and anchoring confidence
Shorter cycles and earlier re‑entry raise heading advance without compromising safety
Consistent anchoring performance in dry and wet conditions simplifies anchoring design

Sectors

Metal & Non-Metal Mining, Infrastructure

Applications

Bolting & Anchoring, Ground Consolidation

Product Details

CarboThix is Minova’s flagship thixotropic silicate injection resin for underground mining and tunnelling, engineered to raise safety and efficiency of rock bolts installation. After mixing the components in the injection gun/adapter, resin begins to thicken rapidly, while still retaining its flowability. This makes the rock-bolt or rock-fissures injection process fully controllable, even when working overhead, without leaks or losses. CarboThix cures quickly and reaches strengths that allow the full potential of the anchoring elements to be used. CarboThix is designed for 3-step manual installation as well as for fully automated cutting-edge 1-step installation technologies such as Unipass. CarboThix is not sensitive to the presence of water and is not water-dilutable. Its performance is the same in dry and wet environments. At the same time, the easily controlled 1:1 mixing ratio ensures constant properties.

The range includes 3 types that have identical behaviour in different temperature ranges – CarboThix Standard is designed for temperatures above 30°C, CarboThix Fast 15-30°C, CarboThix Rapid 5-15°C.

Product Features

Two-component rapid setting thixotropic silicate resin for rock bolting

High strength

Resin reaches early strength in a few seconds after application and the rock bolts become self-supporting. Final strength is higher than 20 MPa regardless in dry or wet environment

Rapid curing anebles immediate rock-bolt loading

The curing reaction is very fast, however the flow-time is sufficient for rock-bolt installation. Cured resin is loadable within a few minutes

Thixotropic behaviour

Resin thickens instantly, reducing losses, allows safe overhead work and excellent control of full encapsulation

Constant 1:1 mixing ratio

Constant 1:1 mixing ratio delivers consistent quality, the resin doesn't require preparation or activation, no adjustments are needed for conditions or pumping distance

Long service life

Tested service life under normal conditions significantly exceeds 50 years
