A465 Heads of the Valley

Challenge
Location: Wales, UK

The A465 Heads of the Valleys upgrade is the biggest road project in Wales and one of the biggest in the UK.

Planning began in 1990; the project was given the go-ahead by the Welsh Government in 1999 and work on the first of five phases began three years later.

Vadlaheidi Tunnel

Challenge

Minova supported the Vadlaheidi tunnel in Iceland to inhibit the heavy inrush of geothermal water. Our successful and timely intervention allowed for the excavation to be continued uninterrupted.

CP5 and CP6 Mallaig Scotland

Challenge
Location: Mallaig, Scotland

QTS Group have been delivering solutions to Network Rail in Scotland since 2005, Minova have provided the majority of material since this date.

A stretch of the line between Fort William and Mallaig featured in many of the Harry Potter film series, including the Glenfinnan viaduct. The route was also voted as “best line” for scenery by readers of Wanderlust magazine for its views of some of Scotland’s finest lochs and mountains.

Highway D1 Prešov Tunnel

Challenge
Location: Prešov, Slovakia

Minova products supported construction of tunnel in Prešov, which was part of the highway project D1 Bratislava - Košice. The route has been under construction since the 1960s.

Minova supplied our clients Metrostav and Tucon with hydraulic bolts, SN bolts, Self-Drilling bolts and drilling tools.

The Challenge
Location: River Wear, Sunderland, England, UK

The Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor (SSTC) is a high-profile infrastructure project that began in 2019 to create a continuous dual carriageway link between the A19 and Sunderland city centre.

 

 

This substantial city investment, due for completion in Autumn 2021 aims to to improve connectivity, reduce congestion and open up the area for future regeneration.

Minova was engaged by Aarsleff Ground Engineering during Phase 3 of the scheme to provide a retaining structure and slope stabilisation system across a 2km stretch of the carriageway.

The £40M phase is to run East from the Southern end of the Northern Spire bridge over the River Wear, through the former Pallion Shipyard.
