In response to an embankment failure sheet piling was installed to secure the slope from further failures. As part of this remediation work Network Rail specified the use of Plati-Drain™ as a drainage solution. Preventing future issues arising from a build-up of hydrostatic and pore water pressure from behind the sheet piling.
Westbury Station, Wiltshire – UK
Minova supported Westbury Station embankment remediation by installing Plati‑Drain systems to relieve pore water pressure and protect rail infrastructure.

Overview
Solution
Plati-Drains were percussively driven 6m into the embankment at a slight inclination through slots cut into the piles at 4.8m centres. The anchor head serves as a vehicle to drag the drain material into the ground providing an immediate channel for the water to flow from deep inside the embankment. The Plati-Drain system is a simple, quick and cost-effective solution to reduce hydrostatic and pore water pressure.
